#1712 — The Myth of the Safe Asset

When Gold Was Taken, Could Land Be Next?

🩸 RedBloodJournal.com 🩸

For generations, investors have searched for the perfect place to protect their wealth.

When currencies weakened...

People bought gold.

When gold became uncertain...

People bought land.

When land seemed expensive...

People bought stocks.

When stocks became volatile...

People bought bonds.

The search never stopped.

Every generation believed it had finally discovered the safest investment.

History suggests a more complicated story.

In 1933, under Executive Order 6102, many Americans were required to surrender most of their monetary gold in exchange for paper currency.

An asset long considered the ultimate store of value became subject to government authority during extraordinary circumstances.

The lesson was profound.

Even what many believed to be untouchable was not entirely beyond political power.

That naturally leads to another question.

If not gold...

Then perhaps land?

Land appears permanent.

It cannot be manufactured.

It cannot disappear into bankruptcy.

It has served as the foundation of wealth for thousands of years.

Yet history again presents another perspective.

Governments have exercised eminent domain to acquire private property for highways, schools, military bases, dams, and other public projects.

During wartime, land has been requisitioned for national defense.

Throughout the world, revolutions have redistributed or nationalized private property.

Even where ownership remains intact, zoning regulations, environmental protections, taxes, building restrictions, and changing laws can substantially limit how property may be used.

Cash carries inflation risk.

Stocks carry market risk.

Businesses can fail.

Bonds depend upon the ability and willingness of borrowers to repay.

Gold has experienced government restrictions.

Land has experienced government intervention.

No material asset appears completely immune from history.

This report does not suggest that governments will necessarily repeat any particular action.

Nor does it argue that ownership has no value.

Rather, it invites a broader question.

Has there ever been a material investment that remained completely beyond the reach of changing governments, changing laws, changing economies, changing wars, and changing societies?

History offers remarkably few examples.

Perhaps the search for perfect security has always been searching in the wrong direction.

Perhaps there is no perfect external investment.

Perhaps every physical possession exists within systems that can change.

If that is true, then the greatest risk may not be losing an investment.

The greatest risk may be believing that any investment can permanently remove uncertainty from life.

Material wealth remains valuable.

It feeds families.

Builds homes.

Supports education.

Creates opportunity.

But history repeatedly reminds us that material security is rarely absolute.

The question therefore becomes:

If every external possession can change...

What remains when everything else changes?

That question belongs not only to economists and investors.

It belongs to every human being.

The Red Blood Perspective

History encourages humility.

Every generation believes it has found a permanent solution to uncertainty.

Yet history repeatedly demonstrates that governments, markets, currencies, laws, and institutions evolve.

Recognizing this reality is not a reason for fear.

It is a reason to distinguish between temporary security and lasting wisdom.

Ocean of Love and Positivity

Perhaps true peace begins when we stop expecting temporary things to provide permanent certainty.

Material possessions can improve life.

They can never completely protect life from change.

When we appreciate them without becoming dependent upon them, they become useful companions rather than invisible chains.

May wisdom become the investment that grows regardless of markets.

May compassion become the wealth that no crisis can diminish.

May inner peace become the home that no government, economy, or circumstance can confiscate.

In an Ocean of Love and Positivity.

📜 The Illusion of Perpetual Security

Aug 1, 2026

This text explores the fundamental instability of physical assets, arguing that no material investment is truly immune to governmental interference or societal upheaval. By referencing historical events like the confiscation of gold and the use of eminent domain on land, the author illustrates that traditionally “safe” havens are often subject to political power. The narrative suggests that while stocks, bonds, and real estate provide utility, they cannot offer absolute security against a changing world. Ultimately, the source encourages readers to shift their focus from material wealth to internal values like wisdom and peace. It concludes that the search for permanent certainty in a temporary world is a myth, advocating for a life that prioritizes character over possessions.
